Frequently Asked Questions

General Hearing Questions

  •  If you often ask people to repeat themselves, turn up the TV louder than others prefer, or struggle in noisy places, it may be time for a hearing test. A test is quick, painless, and gives you clear answers.ription text goes here

  • We recommend a baseline test at age 50 (earlier if you’re noticing difficulties) and then every 3-5 years. If you already wear hearing aids, yearly check-ups help keep them working their best.

Hearing Tests

  • Our hearing tests take 60-90 minutes. We’ll get to know you better, check your ear canal, measure your ear drum motility,  measure your hearing across different pitches, and explain the results right away.

  • No referral is needed. You can book directly with us — either online or by phone.

  • Hearing tests are not covered by OHIP, but can often be reimbursed by your private insurance.

  • For example Public servants cover 80% up to $1,500. Many other insurances do cover hearing aids to varying degrees. Please check with your provider as to how much before booking an appointment.

Hearing Aids

  • Our audiologists will recommend hearing aids based on your test results, lifestyle, and budget. We’ll show you different styles to see what would be the best fit for you.

  • Prices vary depending on features, but most people in Ontario qualify for funding through the Assistive Devices Program (ADP), which provides $500 per ear. We’ll help with the paperwork.

  • Hearing aids don’t “cure” hearing loss, but they make sounds clearer and conversations easier. Most patients notice a big improvement in their daily life.

  • Bring them in! We can often fix them in the clinic. If repairs are needed, we’ll handle everything with the manufacturer for you.

Clinic & Care

  • Just yourself. If you already use hearing aids or have past test results, bring those too. Additionally, we always recommend bringing a loved one to your appointment, as a familiar voice and to add a different perspective.
